The first natural wonder of the Earth is the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon is a very steep-sided canyon which is carved near the Colorado River which is in the United States located in the state called Arizona. The Grand Canyon has a length of 277 miles or 446 km. It is up to 18 miles (29 km) wide and has a depth of approximately 6,000 or 1,800 meters.  The Grand Canyon has continuously been inhabited by Native Americans for thousands of years. The Native Americans had built settlements within the Grand Canyon and the many caves of the Grand Canyon. The first European known to have viewed the Grand Canyon was Garcia Lopez de Cardenas who came from Spain who had arrived at the canyon in 1540. Here is a few pictures of the Grand Canyon and one diagram of the canyon and the three sets of rocks:

Bye for now and stay tuned for my next blog on the second natural wonder of the Earth.
